Global Support Coordinator
Accountability Counsel amplifies the voices of communities around the world to protect their human rights and environment. We are an award-winning non-profit organization working with a small but mighty global team in deep solidarity with local communities.
Our team of advocates work directly with communities challenging human rights and environmental abuses financed from abroad. We specialize in the accountability offices that have been created to address these abuses. Our policy advocates work to ensure that those accountability offices are transparent, independent, fair, accessible, and effective. Our research tracks global complaints and exposes patterns in the accountability system that can be used to prevent harm. We also convene a global network of advocates to foster a movement for accountability in international finance.
In all our work, we employ respect-based methods to ensure that marginalized people, particularly women and girls, are included as full participants in community strategies seeking accountability.
Accountability Counsel is seeking a motivated, mission-driven person to work side-by-side with our Global Support Team to support our organization’s effectiveness across all aspects of our internal operations. This role requires strong written and oral communications, superb attention to detail, and a high degree of professionalism – while remaining resourceful, flexible, and proactive.

The Global Support Coordinator will have the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the world’s leading experts in international human and environmental rights on a unique, multi-disciplinary team. The Global Support Coordinator will report to Accountability Counsel’s Executive Director.
Among other duties as may be required, the Global Support Coordinator’s responsibilities include:
Supporting the Global Support Team (60%)
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, including managing their calendar; coordinating donor meetings, fundraisers, travel, and speaking engagements; and performing other administrative responsibilities as needed;
- Support the organization’s hiring processes by managing job postings; scheduling interviews; drafting agreements; and initiating onboarding for new team members;
- Participate in the hiring, training, and managing of Global Support Team Interns;
- Support the organization’s administration by drafting contractor agreements; collecting tax forms; and conducting bank information verifications for payment processing in coordination with the Director of Finance & Administration;
- Support the organization’s fundraising activities by maintaining an up-to-date database of our donor information and engagement records in Salesforce;
- Act as the first point of contact for external inquiries and internal requests for support on operational matters; and
- Manage discrete administrative and operational projects as needed.
Supporting the Board of Directors (25%)
- Manage the Board calendar and records;
- Prepare and distribute meeting materials and agendas;
- Take notes and produce minutes and reports; and
- Provide other administrative support to the Board, including event coordination and travel support, as needed.
Supporting the Organization More Broadly (15%)
- Support event planning and execution;
- Lead team appreciation initiatives;
- Support travel planning and logistics for traveling team members when requested;
- Provide office management support for our global team;
- Manage membership and administration of the International Advocates Working Group (IAWG) listserv; and
- Participate as a team member in team meetings to understand and communicate the organization’s mission, values, and work.
WHO YOU ARE
The Global Support Coordinator is required to have the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated direct experience assisting a high-level executive, ideally in a fast-paced nonprofit environment;
- High attention to detail and dedication to providing an exceptional work product;
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills;
- Honest, direct, and transparent communication style;
- Ability to learn quickly, organize and prioritize workload, and meet deadlines;
- Good judgment and the ability to think strategically and creatively;
- Ability to understand the need for and to maintain sensitive and confidential information;
- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills, including a high degree of empathy, patience, and ability to work in a multicultural environment; and
- Interest in and commitment to the mission of Accountability Counsel, including our community-led and respect-based approach.
HOURS AND LOCATION
This full-time position is available immediately. This position will require regular, daily communication with a California-based team and weekly communications with our global team working from the East Coast of the United States, Africa, and Asia. This excludes Wellness Fridays, where all team members are encouraged to take every other Friday off. Our team operates on a virtual/hybrid basis, with domestic and international travel required approximately quarterly for in-person meetings. This position is available globally, but with a strong preference for candidates located in regions/cities in which we have existing team members (San Francisco Bay Area, Washington DC, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Nairobi).
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Our Compensation Equity & Transparency Framework ensures that compensation at Accountability Counsel is competitive, equitable, transparent, and progressive. The salary for this role depends on location and is commensurate with experience and in the range of 65,000 – 80,000 USD (for candidates based in California and Washington DC or a similar high cost of living setting). For lower cost of living settings, the salary range may be 45,500 – 72,000 USD, depending on location and experience.
