The Georgetown Law Office of Executive and Continuing Legal Education (OECLE) brings together Georgetown’s world-renowned faculty, today’s top business minds, and Washington DC’s most influential leaders to create transformative professional education for lawyers and legal adjacent careers. The OECLE team is a dynamic group of designers, educators, lawyers, and entrepreneurs committed to serving lawyer-leaders around the world.
Job Overview
The Assistant Director plays an important role in the planning and execution of OECLE’s programming, including relationship building with external stakeholders, marketing and sponsorship, vendors and technology, contracting, event staffing, catering and A/V, facilities and venue, and course evaluation. Regularly working with OECLE partners, they are involved in nearly all aspects of a program lifecycle, from discovery to execution.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Director of Program Management, the Assistant Director has close interaction with the entire OECLE team to drive program planning and execution; and regularly coordinates or interacts with internal and external personnel, including other staff and faculty at Georgetown, potential and existing executive education clients, program attendees and speakers, sponsors, and vendors.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Ability to manage a high volume of work and prioritize effectively
- Ability to manage situations professionally and with sound judgment
- Ability to multi-task and maintain focus, particularly in the provision of customer service while tracking program deliverables for multiple entities and programs simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and as collaborative part of a team
- Comfort with technology and growth mindset
- Demonstrated experience executing large-scale events
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years in a professional setting
- Interest in instructional design, program management, large-scale event planning, and/or higher education
- Experience with Cvent or other event/learning management systems
- A “lean start-up” mindset
- A dedicated team player, flexible and creative, and able to work with a variety of personalities and constituencies to deliver excellent programs at scale
