Job Overview
The Assistant Director of Admissions supports all aspects of the admissions processes. In addition to reviewing and rendering decisions on applications, they represent the Law Center at recruitment fairs, forums, and panels, counseling students regarding the admissions process, and developing and implementing strategies for recruiting and yielding prospective students.
As well, they work on building new recruitment initiatives, including those regarding students from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
And as needed, the Assistant Director performs occasional evening and weekend event responsibilities, as well as seasonal recruiting travel.
Work Interactions
The Assistant Director of Admissions work on all aspects of the admissions process, including reviewing applications, conducting applicant interviews, planning and carrying out recruiting events (online and in-person), and overseeing marketing and outreach to students from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
As assigned, they assist the Dean of Admissions, the Assistant Dean of Graduate Admissions, and the Director of Admissions with other projects.
Requirements and Qualifications
- J.D.
- 1 to 3 years of experience – preference for areas such as counseling, recruiting and/or higher education administration
- Familiarity with Microsoft, especially Excel
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
- Ability to work with a wide range of people, including applicants, alumni, faculty, staff and students
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working in a very fast-paced environment
- Strong multitasking abilities
- Experience with student information systems or similar databases
- Working knowledge of web development technologies and emerging social media
