Procurement and Business Analyst - Georgetown University Law Center

Job Overview

The Procurement and Business Analyst is partially responsible for performing various day-to-day procurement, accounts payable, and procurement card activities of the Law Center as they relate to vendors, employees, faculty, and students. They review all procurement transactions and expense reimbursement requests submitted in Georgetown Management System (GMS) for accuracy and compliance with Georgetown University policies.

Additionally, they act as the customer service representative for the Procurement and Business Services office, looking into department issues as far as vendor payments, vendor contracts, employee reimbursements, ProCard allocations, and requisitions for goods and services are concerned.

The Procurement and Business Analyst works with the Procurement and Business Services team to develop and deliver training programs offered at the Law Center in Georgetown University financial systems such as GMS (Workday), Adaptive Insights, etc. They cooperate with Law Center partners in developing develop Law Center-specific resources, including computer-based, instructor-led job aids, and other resources; deliver online and in-person training sessions to all types of stakeholders and system users for implementation.

Further, they collaborate with the GMS Core team and SMEs as a Law Center representative in the functional financial areas to understand the training and documentation needs, including those associated with the implementation of Workday Financials system updates.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Director of Accounts Payable at the Law Center, the Procurement and Business Analyst interacts with all levels of Law Center staff, faculty, and students, and with individuals from University Services, and the Office of the University CFO, and external companies.

Work Mode Designation

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or a related field
  • At least 1-2 years of professional-level experience in procure-to-pay (P2P), general ledger, budgeting, or financial applications – as well as in the administration of business operations and/or business services
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills for interactions with multiple constituents on campus, including senior executives, faculty, administrators, students, and IT professionals
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of Finance and IT professionals
  • Experience with applications such as Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, and Cognos

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in Higher Education
  • Experience in providing training including instructor-led, eLearning, and other methodologies
  • Involvement in complex change-management projects in highly matrixed organizations
