Open Data Durban is a civic technology lab that engages with societal stakeholders, including government, business, communities, and private citizens to liberate data for use by anyone for any purpose. We seek to unlock data skills within our community and stakeholders through training, engagement, and fellowships to realise this aim. We aim to create data-driven civic technology tools that are user-centric and co-created to enable the transfer and use of data and information, evidence-based analysis and decision making, deeper understanding of the environment we live in, and positive social change. We exist because of the generosity and sharing of our partners and community. We seek to build up our community in Durban, to catalyse individuals to change the way we engage with our city and each other. We aim to build up partners in civil society, government, the media, and in communities to co-create solutions that work.
