POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager, Annual Giving is charged with building a national community of advocates for Sundance Institute’s work through marketing, outreach, and strategic partnership with Institute programs to engage and grow the base of Sundance donors and members, raising revenue through the Institute’s annual giving programs. In partnership with the Assistant Director, Development this position is responsible for ensuring the team reaches or exceeds annual fundraising revenue goals and supporting the creation of multi-year strategies for growth in these areas.

Working closely under the direction of the Associate Director, Individual Giving, the Manager builds the communication strategy and plans for the membership and individual giving patron programs.

This position is based out of our Park City, UT office with regular opportunities to work remotely and will be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, at key points throughout the year. The role will also be required to travel to other Institute offices and events as needed.

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Project managing initiatives related to engaging and growing the base of Sundance donors and members, working closely across development teams to ensure goals and timelines are met.

  • Partnering with Marketing to incorporate mission and membership messaging into appropriate Festival and alumni communications and program announcements.

  • Creating a strategic communication plan for the Sundance Circle and membership programs; including developing timelines, drafting or approving communications, and overseeing the rollout to ensure they clearly align with renewal and acquisition strategies.

  • Overseeing metrics and reporting for Annual Giving, including managing the tracking and reporting of data in Netsuite, developing reports and analyzing data to help inform strategy.

  • Partnering with the Events Department to create engagement opportunities for Sundance donors and members.

  • Collaborating with departments Institute-wide (including but not limited to Alumni Relations, Ticketing, Customer Support) to engage and solicit alumni and audiences as supporters of Sundance Institute.

  • Surveying members, donors, ticket purchasers, and alumni to garner a stronger understanding of how to best engage and deepen relationships with these constituents and make recommendations on how to evolve acquisition, engagement strategy, and member benefits.

  • In partnership with Associate Director, developing multi-year strategies for growing and sustaining Individual Giving patron and membership programs.

  • Soliciting renewals and new contributions from entry-level donors to deepen engagement and move patrons up the pipeline.

  • Managing volunteers, including selecting and training volunteers, delegating appropriate and meaningful work while providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure employees understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles.

  • Partnering with Marketing to create compelling opportunities to highlight Sundance’s year-round mission and connect meaningfully, be an advocate for, and philanthropically support the Institute’s work.

  • Reviewing all communications about Festival benefits to donors, ensuring the team facilitates onsite requisite benefits and access during the Festival to ensure a successful donor experience.

  • Managing effective activations and benefit fulfillment for donors at the Sundance Film Festival.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in nonprofit marketing or managing an annual giving or membership program.

  • Experience writing for marketing purposes and with compiling and interpreting marketing analytics.

  • Experience with direct mail or marketing campaigns.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking, and issuing information.

  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with a wide variety of people.

  • Working knowledge databases along with proficiency in Google Products.

  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize effectively.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Understanding and interest in Sundance Institute's mission.

  • Working knowledge of Fundraising databases/Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience preferred.

*Final rate of pay is determined based on the applicant's geographic location, relevant experience and skills, and internal equity among similar positions within our organization.
