The Festival Associate Manager, Safety and Belonging oversees safety elements related to the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, including owning the Festival Community Agreement processes, managing programmatic safety elements and acting as a key support of the Festival Safety and Belonging team.

Working closely under the direction of Senior Manager, Safety and Accessibility, the Festival Associate Manager, Safety and Belonging will also be a strategic thought partner in supporting Sundance Institute’s commitment to providing a safe and inclusive Festival experience for all artists, audiences, partners, employees, and volunteers.

This temporary position works full-time from Wednesday, November 8, 2023 through Friday, February 9, 2024 and will be required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet key deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned. This position is based out of our Park City, Utah office and will be expected to perform onsite work duties as of Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Employees may start in a commutable distance to Park City, UT or remotely from a state we currently legally operate in until the required onsite work date listed above.

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Playing an active role in, and helping to lead work related to managing and resolving delicate and high-level safety situations.

  • Leading the rebuild and communication of an updated equitable review process to foster a harassment-free, safe, and respectful environment that protects community members.

  • Managing communication with any artists, projects, or invited guests that have specific safety needs or concerns.

  • Creating the programmatic safety schedule and communicating updates to all stakeholders.

  • Managing the Safety and Belonging incident reporting process and system, including working alongside outside partners and other internal depts to ensure appropriate escalation.

  • Building and implementing Safety and Belonging training materials for internal employees and volunteers.

  • Fielding questions across the Institute related to Safety and Belonging.

  • Managing relationships with safety partners and outside agencies, including the Festival Ombuds consultant, mental health partners, and various government agencies.

  • Working with internal departments to ensure safety needs are considered and planned for the Festival.

  • Assisting at any screenings or walkthroughs where safety elements are implemented.

  • Completing Safety and Belonging project-based assignments as directed and providing support to the team.

  • Writing a comprehensive wrap report.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

  • 3 years of administrative or related work experience.

  • Conflict resolution skills with a background that includes handling stressful situations.

  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required to work effectively with a wide variety of people.

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Experience in event safety or security operations preferred.

  • Comfortably lead and manage incidents and safety situations that arise during the 2024 Festival.

  • Implement and be able to clearly communicate programmatic safety elements related to the 2024 Festival.

  • Successfully manage your time and prioritize tasks to ensure projects and deadlines are met.

  • Consistently have effective, clear, and concise communication with internal staff, partner agencies, vendors and additional stakeholders.
