POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director, Digital Product Management is charged with ensuring the continued growth and success of digital products across the Institute with specific emphasis on the Festival Platform and future Institute Digital presence. The Director is responsible for ensuring we provide a quality digital experience to all patrons. Initially, this individual will both lead and be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of this role and will oversee a team of product management contractors.

Working closely under the Chief Product and Technology Officer, the Director supports Sundance Institute’s commitment to championing independent artists and increasing the reach of our mission through our digital offerings. This full-time position works remotely from within a state of operation. Extended hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends, will be required at key points and travel to festivals, labs, events, and other Institute offices may be required on occasion.

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Developing, planning, and executing strategies for the digital product portfolio, with special emphasis on the robust Festival Platform which consists of web, mobile apps, OTT applications (Apple TV, Roku, FireTV, and Google TV), a CMS and other supporting Festival applications.

  • Developing and leading a multi-year strategy to plan and prioritize initiatives.

  • Building relationships with internal departments to identify, document, and communicate requirements and roadmaps.

  • Building relationships with external vendors and service providers to manage and oversee changes to the Institute’s digital products.

  • Providing feedback and guidance to the Digital team on proposed toolsets, UI, and workflow optimization.

  • Staying up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in the field to help inform product design and implementation.

  • Identifying key program metrics, conducting data gathering and ongoing research to analyze and evaluate goals, measure success, drive results and suggest data-driven strategies.

  • Overseeing strategic plan implementation across the Digital team, including providing guidance and feedback on procedures and ensuring teams meet key deadlines.

  • Working closely with executive leadership to define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, overseeing implementation across the Digital team.

  • Motivating the digital team to achieve steady product improvements aligned with strategic goals and initiatives.

  • Collaborating with the Marketing Department to plan digital marketing efforts for the Institute’s digital products.

  • Partnering with the Technology Services Department on digital product initiatives.

  • Setting objectives and goals, developing plans, schedules, and assignments, anticipating and adjusting for challenges, measuring performance, and evaluating results.

  • Hiring, managing, and overseeing a team of employees or contractors, including selecting and training highly effective individuals, providing direction, feedback, mentorship, and support to ensure all understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles while delegating appropriate and meaningful work.

  • Creating, planning for, and adhering to realistic budgets, making adjustments as necessary.

  • Working closely with the Technology Services Department and external vendors to execute the product roadmap, including, but not limited to creative/UX enhancement and technical delivery.

  • Leading a cross-functional team to ensure alignment and participation in the digital product’s development and direction.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • 10 years of experience working on digital product management on large, high traffic, end user facing applications with a good understanding of best practices and how to optimize teams for success.

  • 5 years of experience working on digital products for web, mobile applications and/or OTT applications (Apple TV, Roku, FireTV, Google TV)

  • 5 years experience working with one or more content management systems.

  • Ability to motivate those around you and effectively manage virtual teams.

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of business and technology.

  • Experience managing a portfolio of digital products and services.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with a wide range of people and build strong working relationships.

  • Ability to anticipate, define, and prevent problems, investigate obstacles, gather relevant information, and arrive at alternative workable solutions.

  • Ability to convey processes necessary to get things done, understanding how to separate and combine tasks into efficient workflows.

  • Experience with ecommerce and/or online streaming platforms is a plus.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

In addition to an annual salary of $135,000.00 to $160,000.00*, this position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, highlights include:

*Final rate of pay is determined based on the applicant's geographic location, relevant experience and skills, and internal equity among similar positions within our organization.
